Hydrogen-based vehicles are already an integral part of sustainable mobility today. Tyczka Hydrogen supplies the green fuel and - if required - also the right refuelling solution.
From forklifts to ocean-going vessels: almost anything that moves can be powered by hydrogen. To do this, electricity is generated in a fuel cell, which then drives the vehicle via electric motors. Hydrogen can also be used in combustion engines. It replaces fossil gasoline and diesel on a one-to-one basis (e.g. the short refuelling time or the ability to be transported by ship, rail and road). Hydrogen has been used as a fuel in rockets since the 1960s.
Where are hydrogen-powered vehicles already running - and what are their advantages?
Hydrogen buses produce no local pollutants and are quieter than buses with combustion engines. Compared to the battery-electric alternative, they have longer ranges that are more independent of temperature and can be used well in multi-shift operation and on hilly terrain. Hydrogen thus improves the quality of life in cities and rural areas.
For trucks and articulated trucks, hydrogen drivetrains enable long ranges with payloads and refuelling times comparable to diesel vehicles. The high level of flexibility is crucial for many logistics companies, especially in the long-distance sector.
Trains, for example in regional transport, can also use hydrogen on routes where an overhead line is not economical, and the range of battery trains is not sufficient. Hydrogen offers a climate-friendly, flexible alternative to diesel propulsion on the railways with comparable performance.
Forklifts powered by hydrogen fuel cells cause no local emissions and can therefore be used in buildings. Thanks to short refuelling times, the forklifts can be used in multi-shift operation. This increases productivity and reduces the CO2 footprint at the same time.
Hydrogen fuel cell cars enable locally emission-free driving that comes close to cars with combustion engines in terms of range and performance.
In addition, many other hydrogen-powered applications are being developed, such as construction site vehicles, ships and even commercial aircraft.
Tyczka Hydrogen GmbH opened its first own filling station for green hydrogen on 17 June 2024. The new facility offers hydrogen at pressures of 350 and 700 bar and supplies commercial vehicles, buses and cars. The pioneering project was funded by the Bavarian Ministry of Economic Affairs.
Together with our partners BayWa and Kloiber, we have expanded the Multi-Energy site in the Augsburg freight village to include the innovative fuel hydrogen. Our hydrogen fuelling station is integrated into the existing BayWa LNG fuelling station and is operated by us, Tyczka Hydrogen. We ensure the supply of the fuelling station with our own hydrogen trailers from various sources of green hydrogen.

Clear the way for the energy transition: When the new regional hydrogen train from Siemens Mobility set off on its test run with prominent guests on September 15, 2023, Tyczka Hydrogen GmbH was also on board. Thanks to our great flexibility and comprehensive service, we ensured a smooth hydrogen supply for the test drive.
Tyczka Hydrogen refuelled the Mireo Plus H at the BRB depot in Augsburg using a multifunctional dispenser from a technology partner. The stand-alone unit for fast and economical hydrogen dispensing ensures safe and reliable hydrogen refuelling of fuel cell electric vehicles such as trucks, buses, cars or even trains. As a quasi-mobile system, the dispenser can be flexibly transported to the respective location and put into operation there without major effort. The green hydrogen was delivered with one of our high-performance trailers.
“With our Mireo Plus H, we are putting hydrogen on the rails. Initially in Bavaria, Brandenburg and Baden-Württemberg. The planning for our VIP test drive in the Allgäu region was very dynamic. Despite the short lead time, the Tyczka Hydrogen team successfully managed the temporary refuelling and everything that went with it, making a significant contribution to making the day a success.”
